THE BACKSTORY
While studying for my English degree at Clemson, Richard wrote cringe-worthy poetry, and his first job after university was writing for a newspaper. That was fun, but being able to pay rent was better, so Richard joined the business world and traveled the globe quenching his wanderlust while working for a multi-billion dollar Swiss company.
THE BONA FIDES
Gap Year is a work of fiction, but years of commuting to Europe, along with Richard's own gap year experiences, bring an accuracy and binge-worthy authenticity to the novel.
THE PRESENT
Richard now lives in Charleston, South Carolina with his wife and son and cat, Minou.
